The Day-Date collection was the first watch in the world to display the full name of the day of the week and the date on the dial, becoming one of the most iconic models in the history of the Rolex brand. The watch features an elegant champagne-colored dial with diamond hour markers, highlighting the timepiece’s exclusive character.

    This model is water-resistant up to 100 meters. Reference number 18038. Its functions include the display of hours, minutes, seconds, a date window, and the full day of the week shown at the top of the dial. This particular item dates from 1986. The watch comes with its original box.

    Case

    The case is crafted entirely from 18-karat yellow gold and features the classic Oyster design; the case diameter is 36 mm, the thickness is approximately 12 mm, the lug-to-lug distance is approximately 44 mm, while the lug width is 20 mm. The distinctive fluted bezel is also crafted from 18-karat gold. The champagne-colored dial is adorned with diamond hour markers that perfectly complement the warm hue of the gold case. The model is equipped with sapphire crystal featuring the distinctive Cyclops lens that magnifies the date display and a Twinlock screw-down crown.

    Mechanism

    The watch is equipped with the Rolex Calibre 3055 in-house automatic movement. The caliber operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), is mounted on 27 jewels, and offers approximately 42 hours of power reserve. The movement displays the hours, minutes, central seconds, a date window with a quick-set function (Quickset), and the full day of the week. Caliber 3055 was one of the most important movements in the history of the Day-Date collection, as it was the first to introduce the quick-set date function, significantly enhancing the comfort of daily use.

    The model is mounted on the iconic President bracelet crafted from 18-karat yellow gold. The three-piece construction of the semi-circular links ensures exceptional comfort and has been a hallmark of the Day-Date collection for over half a century. The bracelet blends perfectly with the case and the gold bezel, creating a cohesive and exceptionally luxurious whole. The watch is completed by a hidden Crownclasp with the distinctive Rolex logo.
