Gerald Charles Genta was born on May 1, 1931, in Geneva, and his Swiss-Italian heritage embodied the best qualities—ambition, perfectionism, and an extraordinary sense of aesthetics. The designer gained his experience under the wing of the luxury brand Universal Genève. The high quality of his work and his choice of unconventional forms and shapes are the hallmarks by which Gerald’s masterpieces are most easily recognized. To this day, he is considered an undisputed pioneer in the field of design, and it is he who is the creator of many of the world’s most popular watch models. To this day, Genta’s influence on the development of watchmaking is invaluable, though he himself used to say that he doesn’t like watches—he only loves designing them.
