So there you have it, first a thicker case, larger crown guards and a wider bezel. The given elements formed the first reference 16760 GMT-Master II.
With its larger case and elegant shape, the watch is often referred to as the “Fat Lady” or “Sophia Loren.”
The Rolex GMT-Master II dates back to the 1990s, made of stainless steel and runs on the revamped caliber 3085. This new mechanism allowed the GMT arrow to move back and forward separately from the minute and hour hands.
The reference 16760 was also the first GMT-Master to be fitted with a black and red bezel, which is now better known as “Coke”. The funny thing is that this GMT has an “incorrectly printed” bezel insert. These inserts are very rare and sought after, as it was almost impossible for imperfect parts to pass Rolex’s quality checks.
This GMT was also the first GMT-Master to be carried out with sapphire glass.
It is obvious that such a marvel is just for sale in our store!
